48 Hours Road Trip to NW Missouri

September 20, 2024
We headed for a short weekend trip to explore NW Missouri in three small cities with a lot of charm; Osborn, St. Joseph, and Weston. Just about 60 minutes north of Kansas City, this area gives you all the small town vibes for this fall. Here is my top list of things to do in NW Missouri for a 48 hour road trip!
48 Hour Itinerary Below

Shatto Farm If you’re from the area, you have to stop by the famous Shatto Milk Dairy Farm. This is a frequent field trip spot for local schools and families. Make sure you grab tickets to their tour. The Tour consists of three parts, milk sampling, milk production line, and visiting the animals. (9406 N Highway 33 Osborn, MO)

RC’s Lunch Car After the farm, head west to St. Joseph, MO for lunch at RC’s Lunch Car. This retro diner is known for the juicy made to order burgers. There is bar seating inside or dinging tables, and just out front there is a patio table. We ordered the Big Mic, Cubano with two Cokes. (505 Francis Street St. Joseph, MO)

Patee House Museum Next, head to the Patee House Museum. It is a still moment in time and so many historical items captured in time. In the back, they have an old carousel to ride with the family. Make sure to check out the old shops in their immersive recreated town. The National Pony Express Museum is just a block away! (1202 Penn Street St. Joseph, MO)

The Edmond 2 Stay the night in a gorgeous historic home in the heart of St. Joseph, MO. When you arrive you have a code to unlock the home, walk up stairs to have your entire second floor to yourself! It has a full kitchen and dining room, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and two sitting rooms. Its decorated so beautifully and makes for a very special night away from home. (1022 Edmond Street St. Joseph, MO)

Weston Orchard and Vineyard This farm has just about everything you can think of, apple picking, apple shooting, cider, playground, games, flower fields, and more. We had a blast hanging out in the pit of corn kernels. Make sure to pick up some of their apple donuts and spiked cider slushes! (18545 Co Rd Weston, MO)

Tin Kitchen Head over to the Tin Kitchen for lunch. They have some southern cooking like pimento cheese and pulled pork BBQ sandwiches. This spot fills up quick, so make sure you grab a table! We ordered the salmon salad, pulled pork sandwich and one of their coconut cream pies for dessert. (509 Main Street Weston, MO)

Green Dirt Creamery Grab an afternoon snack at the Green Dirt Creamery. They have some lunch items, ice cream, and beautiful charcuterie boards. There are lots of brightly colored picnic tables outside in the shade and some indoor seating. Its a beautiful space with some incredible cheese boards. (1099 Welt St Weston, MO)

Red Barn Farm One of my favorite farms and the farm I’ve personally been going to the longest, is Red Barn Farm. They have goats, ponies, chickens, turkeys and more! We love to take a ride around the farm on their little tractor ride and shop at their red barn store after for some peach slushies! (16300 Wilkerson Rd Weston, MO)
